Purchasing memorial land in Normandy
When you purchase a D-Day memorial land plot for $40.00 plus $6.40 shipping/handling, you receive the following:
- A lease to one square foot of the land registered as Cadastre B, No. 221, Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy,
France that extends until June 6th, 2084.
- A beautifully-produced, embossed parchment
certificate of ownership (pictured at right). The certificate is
printed on acid-free parchment paper, 22 inches tall by 17 inches wide, with a reproduction of an original
water-color painting of Colleville-sur-Mer north to Omaha beach. There is a gold foil inlay, an open space in
which the name of the owner can be inscribed, and an embossed seal of authenticity. The text of the certificate
reads: "Be it known to all present that
[Name of Owner] and his heirs and assigns, is the owner of the rights for a period of ninety-nine years to
one square foot of land on the lot officially registered in Colleville-sur-Mer, Cadastre B, No 221, said lot
located in the village of Colleville-sur-Mer, one mile east of the American Cemetery and one-half mile south of
Omaha Beach in the province of Normandy, France, and he is entitled to all rights and privileges related thereto.
This piece of land is dedicated to the memory of all those Americans who valiantly
fought for the freedom of Europe in the early hours of the sixth day of June nineteen hundred and forty-four, and
who restored freedom and democracy to all mankind."
